Hi Beeb i've been a LRB fan since i heard the song Curiosity Killed The Cat and mate what a band. I'm missing the CD Under The Wire which i'm trying to purchase on the ebay or amazon sites and it's very expensive as the best track on the album and the way you played Mistress Of Mine on the Full Circle DVD was magic. I hope that you and the rest of guys do another concert as i missed the one you did with BSG in Melbourne, so if you could send me some info on that as i am truly a great fan.
Un placer saludarlo, maestro Birtles. Quería saber si puedo conocer el nombre original de una canción suya que fué versionada en español con el nombre de "Cruzando la Línea". Gracias de antemano.

dear mr. beeb,
although the lrb album, 'sleeper catcher' had already been out for several years i didn't get the opportunity to hear the whole album until sometime in the spring of 1982.
as you have mentioned above, this album is consistently solid all the way through.
these many years since the album's debut, however, i've been troubled by the the lack of recognition your hauntingly beautiful tune, 'light of day' has received. that not withstanding, i have enjoyed very much all this time. thank you so much for having written it.
sincerely,

Hi Beeb,
I took a trip to the USA last October to see Rick Springfield in concert, and to meet him, all part of my 50th birthday celebrations!
I took with me my scrapbook I have had since I was about 13. It had a picture of you from a TV Week pinup when you were in the band "Mississippi".
I showed my scrapbook to Rick when I mket him and he pointed your picture out!
I am going on a cruise in November "Rick Springfield and friends" cruise, out of Miami, for 5 nights, want to come along?
Do you keep in touch with Rick?

Just mucking around on Utube and came across 'I'm coming home' wow it bought back awesome memories when I was back at school. It reminds me when my brother was working over seas for a long time and was coming home about the time this song came out. I don't know how I forgot this song for so long, cause I've always loved LRB so thanks and good luck Kia ora
just a short note from a fellow adeladian left handed bass player still enjoying it. Beeb, lots of love to you and your family. Please send my regards to Derek P....
Greetings from Indiana... I've been an LRB fan since the mid-1970s. I would love to see BSG come to the States. I recently found and bought "LRB Live Exposure, Live in Texas, October 7, 1981" DVD. It's such a great DVD! I think a friend of mine had the original Lazer Disc of this same show. If there are other DVDs out there I would like to buy them. Take Care, Mark
G'day Fella's, It's been great listening to all your tunes through the years, hard to believe it's been that long. Good to see you all back on stage singing all the classics. Let us know if you tour the States.
Cheers

Beeb,
I am also a lefty player. Back in 1979 I came across a very old left handed Fender Jazz bass. A buddy of mine called to tell me that a local pawn shop had one located on the top shelf, covered in dust and wanted $24.00 for it. I purchased it. Being a guitar player, and naive at the time, I though maybe someone would want this cool bass. I called Fender- they told me it was made in 1960. I remembered that LRB had a lefty bass player and actually tracked down your manger, as you were in the states at the time. When I told him about the guitar- he informed me 'that bass player is gone.' Too bad.
Anyway I did end up selling it, I wanted a left D-35 brazilian, but could only located a 68 D28. AND I missed your D-35 sale of recent.
Best to you my friend- love your music.

BSG Full Circle is better than the original LRB... vocals are hot and right on... who is that lead guitar player Simon... he smokes... as a long time LRB fan this was a gift... I have heard the LRB in the 2000s and well quite frankly they can't hold a candle to BSG! Give us MORE!!!!
My brother Ron Birtles informed me about the LRB's vocalist/songwriter named the same as our family's last name. Even though I know that Birtles wasn't Beeb's given name at birth, I find it interesting to find SOMEONE, albeit one of such talent & fame, who is well-known whose name is same as ours! There are so few in this country who have such a unique name. Coincidentally, I was raised in an environment of music since my father was drumming from the age of 4; he, in turn, taught my bro. as well as many students. He passed in '95 and today there is a Montgomery Co., MD, bagpipe band named in his honor called MacMillan-Birtles Pipe Band, a div. of The United MacMillan Pipe Bands. So honored is the fam. of Walter G. Birtles. Currently my bro. Ron is a drummer in the classic rock band The Trailers, in the Raleigh, NC, area. Not so surprisingly, his son Ryan was most recently drumming with the Wilmingon, NC, band called 4th & Dock. Maybe it is the name Birtles that is the indication of musical talent! LRB was always a favorite of mine; it's good to see that 3 of the original members are once again reunited to once again make terrific music!
In my 59th year of life, I have just re-discovered LRB's music and absolutely love it! Just wanted to thank you, and all of the past LRB group members, for the most wonderful music that puts a smile on my face, a contentment in my heart, and stirs my emotions to their fullest!

Hi Beeb,
I attended a musician's lunch in Adelaide today and local radio personality David Day brought along a few photos from the 1960's. If you would like to see the one of the Zoot, please contact me.
Some young guy playing a Hoffner McCartney bass?
Best Regards,
John Forrest

Beeb,
I last saw you in concert with LRB on Sept. 11, 1982 (has it really been almost 28 years). You performed at Starlight Theater in Kansas City, Missouri. Starlight Theater is an outdoor stage/setting -- and that night the weather was beautiful and a full Moon was shining brightly over the stage. I was 23 years old -- and it was a night of music I cherish to this day. When you were doing the "intro", you mentioned how beautiful it was that night for an outdoor concert under the stars and with the full Moon. And, yes, I'll never forget John Farnham jumping off the stage near the end of the performance and running up the center aisle amongst the concert attendees. I know that performance on Sept. 11, 1982 was likely just another stop on the album tour for "The Net", but I wanted to make sure I didn't leave this life without saying Thank You for sharing the gift of your music and your voice with all of us across the years (BTW: It's so great to see you again in the 1983 Melbourne Concert videos on the Internet; takes me back to that concert at Starlight Theater almost 28 years ago). Hope I'm fortunate enough to meet you sometime (I'll have my wife take a picture). Anyway, Thank you again for Sharing and Touching so many of us with your Musical Talents. Wishing you and yours All the Best !

Hi Beeb,
Now with modern technology & the internet, you may be able to answer a burning question I've been carrying for the past 25 odd years. What (if any) was he response from the Beatles and/or George Martin on the Elenor Rigby arrangemnt/rcording by Zoot.
Thanks for your time And thanks for
sharing a wonderful gift.

Hi BB, Gday from Nth Plympton,Adelaide. I found this site by accident but I hope we can make contact again after all these years. Congrats about your amazing success, thoroughly deserved and earned. I can still remember sitting on your bed while you practised those early chords on your homemade guitar. It sounded lots better a few years later! Anyway , if you can catchup it will be great.Regards your high schoolmate Grant Riches.
G,day Beeb/ Long time no see,but we are still alive and kicking! At least I have been able to follow your fun through the ages, what a blast!!! My family are so proud of your career, but sick of me telling them you were a school mate years ago. Anyway, I stumbled onto this site, not bad for my computer skills, and am very happy to touch base again. All the very best for the future from Grant.

Hi Beeb, glad I checked Chris' Zoot website today 'cos I hadn't realized we could reach you through your guestbook! I must send belated Happy Birthday greetings for the 28th, you've caught up to me again (not telling how old we are! Ha!) I caught up with Darryl, Jim & Russell here at The Charles Hotel again...always feel the clock's turned back when they sing their oldies but goodies! Glenn sings LRB when he's here, bliss! Any chance of BSG doing a tour any time soon? Well, cheers to you & your lovely family for now. I'm excited as my son will be coming over for Chrissie & it can't come soon enough! He's lived over there for 6 years now. :(( Ooroo Maureen
